Howdy

So I suppose first off I should point off this comic does not specifically come from me being an Atheist this comic came to me when I was thinking of a girl I went to high school with who later ended up attending my college who between those times at some point had "found" religion. It mostly stems from one specific memory where there was a transsexual male who was at the time going through the process of becoming female the person was a nice person who was spending time with the girl because they had a interest in religion.

The two had actually spent many nights together in some kind of religious study thing that her and a few of the girls had been doing. Then just one day in between classes the Transsexual approached the girl to talk about religion and the girl flat out said "Why do you even care, you are going to go to hell anyways"

Now I am the type of person who thinks it is ok for her to believe that in her little heart of hearts. You should be able to believe anything you want and you should be able to express your beliefs right up to the point where you are a asshole to other people.

And it really bothers me that ANYBODY thinks they can understand something like a "God" we are small little beings with small little brains on a tiny little planet that is all we perceive things from is on the literal ground level. Where as a being that is on the level of a "God" would be seeing everything from every level on a galactic sense. It would see and understand black holes and nebula's and life on distant planets that in no way resembles anything on this one and fully it understands all of it from far away and on a small molecular level.

Then you come back down to our level after all that... and you think it cares? You think when little Bobby throws a baseball at Susy Lou a supreme being really watches and cares if Susy catches the ball, or if it falls flat or zips right by her or crashes directly in her face breaking her nose? Why would he? For the most part I don't even care and little Susie is my 3rd cousin.

Now do I think you should read this and then suddenly change your beliefs? No that is not how beliefs work I remember people telling me I shouldn't be an atheist before it was popularized by todays media and I just cant... what you believe is not a choice it is based off of how you developed and how you processed what happens around you.

All I would like to have happen when you read any of this if you believe in a God or something else or nothing at all... is just think about it.
Because the best people I know do not recite religious or science facts from a book... they just think and then they say what they thought about.

reMIND Vol 2: Kickstarter

About a year ago I became aware of a comic called reMIND by Jason Brubaker ( who also runs the site/podcast "Making Comics" where you can hear from comic writers/artists and find tips to making your own webcomic .) with . It was on the web posted at reMINDblog.com. I knew I enjoyed that concept and art of the comic but couldn't get myself to sit and read it on the website. Never the less I started following Jasons RSS Feed and his Twitter.

After following him a while he mentioned that some of the printed copies of his book were going to be on sale due to having small damages when they were shipped to him. I ordered a copy and as soon as it arrived I sat down and just read through the whole book.

I personally find books easier to read then text on computer screens or ipoddys but I think part of the reason it was easier for me to zoom through the book is I think Jason wrote/designed/illustrated the book to be a BOOK. So it flows the way a book should flow and not the way a computer should flow.

Then a little later on a little before I started releasing The Tales of Whimsy I wrote a few comic creators I knew of and respected to let them have a look at it before anybody else… AND HE WROTE BACK!

"Hey Neal. Thanks for the email and letting me see your new webcomic. I really like the site and how you are displaying the pages as if they are in a book.

I didn't read through it but I will book mark your site for when you start posting to remind myself to check it out every now and then. Good luck with everything! Talk soon."

Sure it isn't the BIGGEST thing in the world but you know he still spent a bit of his time on me and my little project that is something that shouldn't be taken for granted.

The first books story is about a girl named Sonja and her cat named Victuals who gets brain swapped with a underground dwelling Lizard-Man who's love was turned into a rat… it covers how all that happened.

It ended on a cliffhanger so I am happy the 2nd book is getting made. I would say "finally" but since I work on my comics and know it takes forever it is actually being released fairly speedily. (I was just extremely surprised speedily was a real word) I also know that a lot of effort is put into making these books something special from every page to the cloth spine.

The Kickstarter runs till Aug 22nd so please go and check it out… I really like getting the book at this point. I like knowing my $25 doesn't just buy me a copy of the book but also goes into the book being made.
